Case study 4: Oyster
- serve rack move

Server Rack Relocation

This London based client was merging with another company, also based within the Capital, and had already moved the PC’s themselves the weekend before, but required Technimove to safely relocate their 2 Server racks.

A pre-move survey highlighted that the height of the two Server racks would prevent them from entering the lift, and the staircase was too narrow to walk them down. This meant that they had to be lowered by use of a hoist, from their 1st floor location.

A Project Manager for this move, which took place on Saturday, oversaw a team
of four technicians. Access was available from 10.00, Technimove’s Server Engineer on site assisted the clients I.T. staff in decommissioning, and separating the kit, before it was rapped separately in anti-static bubble wrap, and packed in to computer crates.

The kit was loaded on the vehicle and safely transported to its new location. Upon arrival, the team unloaded the vehicle and began recommissioning the two Servers. The Server Engineer on site again assisted the clients’ I.T. staff in bringing the Servers back up on line.

The team finished ahead of schedule
and completed the project to specification. The client was very pleased with the level of service provided, and was especially pleased with the manner in which we accommodated several late changes to the project spec.
